Before and after
In January I weighed 313 pounds and 5'11. I had a basal cell carcinoma on my forehead that needed removal and a skin graft to patch. I also discovered I was a T2 diabetic. My BP was borderline "go to the ER now". The surgeon would not operate on me until I got these things under control. I was told the diabetes and the BP would kill me long before the cancer.
I had my surgery Tuesday. I now weigh 245, my BP is just above ideal, and my diabetes is very well controlled with diet, medicine, and exercise. I do not need insulin at this time. I test as a non-diabetic with the meter and the A1c but I will always fail the glucose tolerance test where they make you drink the glucose and observe the effects over several hours. My doctor and family have helped me so much to reach this point.
The bandage comes off Tuesday.
I have about 30 more pounds to go according to the doctor, and then I can ease off on the weight loss.
I have made many good friends on this forum, and I wanted to share my good fortune. ~ Mike Meyer

Congratulations, I'm sure it wasn't easy. Here's hoping that's the end of the cancer too.

justbill - Thank you. It was not easy to change my lifestyle to be compatible with a successful diabetic lifestyle lol... BCC's are very treatable, very rarely spread, and don't usually come back.
The surgeon explained it is a lot like termites though. What doesn't look too bad on the surface is often found to be more extensive when you start removing it. Fortunately the damage is usually local but can be extensive. It was removed to clear margins. Aside from some scars, I should be fine.
