Our customer has a Nortel NTAK11BD PBX with existing 2 CO & 14 ext. They are going to relocate office & the PBX & need additional 10 ext. Please advise if additional ext card can be added and how much it will cost. We also need the programming manual for this PBX and is it easy to program. Our experience is mostly with Panasonic & NEC. Please advise if Nortel PBX is simple to program? Any advise is very much appreciated. Please email direct to ghazali@cablemaster.com.sg. Thanks.

You have an Option 11C PBX. If you are going to add 10 more digital sets you will need an NT8D02GA (last 2 letters are revision and may be different). Each card handles 16 digital Station ports. If they are adding analog stations, you would need a NT8D09BA. Cost will vary between new and refurbished cards. If you have never worked on an Option 11, I would strongly advise you to hire another vendor for support (could be remote if you have modem or site event buffer). The manuals aren't going to do you much good if you're not familiar with Nortel.

Thanks clanier for your quick reply. This customer is in East Timor & I'm in Singapore. They want us to relocate the PBX for them & install the card in their PBX as there is no one with the expertise who can do this in East Timor. I have to find out from them whether they want the digital or analog card. I can get a Nortel vendor to support remotely from Singapore but what about the relocation & installation of the expansion card?

GMK, again I would advise against trying to do this yourself. You never know what is going to happen when you power down the PBX. The VM may not comeback up. You may have to reload the switch (Do you have the SW and Keycodes?)If you need support, you can not go directly to Nortel. the SSC card may not come up. You need backups of the switch and VM. I have lost power supplies during moves. This is not a key system. This needs to be done by a trained technician. There is a lot more involved than just slotting the card in an empty card slot.

You can install the card by simply sliding it into the desired slot, but it will need to be enabled in programming and then each port on the card will need to be programmed with the model of phone that will go in that port.I'm with clanier, If you don't know anything about Option11 syntax for programming than most definitely hire a vendor

Beer, sure I'll try one

Thanks again clanier & Tronic for your wise advise. I think I shall just stay away from this job or get a trained guy to do it. Regards.
