Has anyone worked with Nuvox or similar configuration. Customer has Nuvox (provider) bringing in a T1 (not PRI) to a channel bank. The channel bank sends out 24 POTS lines to the customers present phone system. Trying to install a Norstar with 7.0 and a T1 card. According to Nuvox, I should be able to take a straight thru cable and go from the smart jack to the T1 card in the Norstar. I would possibly agree. The next step is in question. My sources say that I should set up the T1 as E&M manual answer. Nuvox is saying I should be Loop. Can you go loop on a T1 ?? Whatever works, then, I should have 24 phone numbers that match up to the 24 channels and I then can take line 1 to this phone and line 2 to that phone, etc... Does this sound right? And should I set up the T1 as Loop or E&M ? Anyone do something similar? Thanks for any info

if i am reading this right sounds ok,i usually only work with pri here have done e&m in the past i beleive you can set the t1 has loop,e&m,
winkstart,if i had to take a guess i would set it to loop then set target lines to your extensions and pool outs if loop doesn't work then try e&m,i have used e&m in the past to link 2 site on a circuit.hope this helps

We do sites with T1s converted to loop start all the time. Look at the existing RJ breakout and see if they are indeed loop. Don't know why they would say configure it E&M unless they were changing the delivered format. Otherwise they would currently be delivering a T1 programmed E&M and having the channel banks convert to loop. Doesn't seem logical.

Wow, why would they not give you a straight voice T-1 with DIDs? The customer is paying. It is a standard install.

Why play games when their switch tech can reconfigure a circuit in 15 minutes? Why are they making you the flop around rag doll?

"Hello telco, we have made a decision that the rational thing to do is have you deliver a standard voice T-1 and we will be available on X date at Y time and as you can deliver this, please do."

I think Nuvox bings it in over IP and converts it to Loop, E&M, ect.. Yes you can go Loop on the T1.

Thanks for the info. I haven't done a plain T1 for years..ssss. For some reason loop on a T1 just didn't sound right. JimmyT - Thanks for the straight answer. Found the settings. Plugged it in and up it came. Don't know what all the Telco bashing and flopping the rag doll was all about. Just needed to know if a T1 could be a loop. Answer - YES. Thanks all.

Sorry, I assumed you would want DIDs on a T-1 and they should be offering you that. It sounded like you were supposed to figure out what the carrier should have known and it didn't seem reasonable.

If you have no use of DIDs and 24 loop start lines is what you wanted, then of course that would be perfectly reasonable and I'm sorry I didn't understand your post.

No problem, bunnie. We all have our days. My brain couldn't think that Loop lines were part of Plain T1. That is what threw me. It has been too long doing just PRI's.
Thanks
