Hi There,

I am trying to figure out how to set up DISA on a MICS 4.1 or higher. The docs are a bit confusing so here's what I want to do:

I want the second trunk on first DS card on the main MICS cabinet to be a non DISA auto answer line. I am hooking it into an FXS port to another system. I have programmed the line 2 as auto answer, non disa. I phone in, the line answers but no dialtone. I have also tried setting DISA to on with the same result.

The manual is a bit confusing but it seems to say if the DS loop card is installed in a Trunk Module it needs an e&M/disa card, but it doesn't say if you need an e&m/disa if it's installed in the main cabinet.

Do you need a E&M/DISA card if the DS card and line is in the main cabinet? If not what are the setups to get this puppy working.

Thanks

The customer is getting a new IP system and their other sites have Nortel systems. I am trying to set up some crude networking using FXS gateways plugged into The Nortel DISA ports.

I don't know how good or bad it's gonna be, but what the hell, it's worth a shot!

From the installer guide:

For Loop Start or CI Trunk Cartridges installed in a Trunk
Module, you will also need one E&M/DISA Trunk
Cartridge for every two loop start trunks that you configure
as auto-answer. The E&M/DISA Trunk Cartridge provides
two DTMF receivers to receive the incoming digits from
the central office.
