We are an NEC dealer that recently moved a PANI D308 Digital Hybred System for a customer. Of coarse we were told that no programming would be involved as we don't have a program manual. My question is this: On the back of the digital phones there is a jack that says "To Tel" I plugged a cordless phone into that jack but the cordless wouldn't work. Do I need an adaptor or something? Or is it progamming? Thank you.

No adaptor, xdp (extra device port) needs to be enabled in programming for that extension's port.

You also need all 4 wires (2 pairs) between the system and the telephons socket.

That's great. They'll be happy they don't need additional equipment. Now, can someone point me in the right direction as to how to enable this? Thank you.

WJS, on the TD308 only the 1st 4 ports supported the XDP feature or parallel connections.
The XDP, (extra device port) when activated, becomes a seperate extension.
If it was on one of the 1st four ports, you should have had intercom dialtone if it was properly wired from the system to the station jack.
There was an add-on module for SLT on the last 4 ports. KX-TD30870

Thanks for all the responces. This happens to be on the 4th port and the didital phone works fine. However the cordless I have plugged in to the parallel port doesn't work. Does something need to be activated in programming?

yes if you need xdp to work than go to pgm 600 press spkr 4 times press auto answer once then autodial/store then hold then program and as obt said the jack has to have all four pins cutdown all the way back to the frame.

WJS, only activate the XDP, (program 600) if you want that cordless to be a seperate extension.
If your simply looking for a parallel connect, then don't activate it.
Again, either way, you will need two pair, complete from the jack to the system.
