Hello all; I've got an 8 port Stratagy VM system that I would like to backup since the hard drive has sounded like it's going to fail for five years... What's the best way? The backup utility told be it was going to be 360+ minutes - I can't take the VM down for that long! Can I pull the drive off the board and back it up?

Another question - what's the approximate (Canadian) cost to update our CTX to the latest software?

Thanks!
Allan

If your Voice Mail card has a hard drive on it, its either a Stratagy DK card or an IES32. I can't believe anyone would put a DK card in a CIX, but if that's the case, I would use VM Manager and backup just the database and the greetings.

If its an IES32, there is a backup and restore utility available that backs up the system onto a network drive.

I guess we first need to know what VM you have.

It's a Stratagy DK. We had a DK424 that got cooked by lightning but the Stratagy card survived and was put in the CTX.

If you really need to do a full backup then get all the users to clear their boxes out of old and new messages then try again, we normally plan this with the customer as the vm will be down for the period or why not just do a database only backup , this will take about 10-15 minutes ( microsoft minutes though ) , with this backup you will at least be able to workout what they had before.
