I'm having a difficult time trying to order DID trunks to connect to the 4 port DID card. The telco seems to keep discussing PRI for the DID capability and this is what I don't want. Part of the difficulty is my overall understanding of DIDs from the telco. I'm hoping someone has had a similar experience and I'm also hoping they could help me ask for the right thing. I just want to connect a DID trunk to the ElectraELITE 4 port DID card.

Thanx in advance.

Who's your service provider? Telus/Bell/Sprint? A lot of these guys don't use the right terminology, and perhaps, they don't really want to sell you DID lines, since the technology is a bit different (and hence, rarely used.) Arguably, it costs them more money to provide the service than what they can charge. They'd rather sell you standard lines, which you have to use up more CO ports.

DID lines are still available, if you ask the right question, and the right sales rep. The last time I asked my rep from Bell, they said "why use DID's, you can do the same with Centrex or standard lines."

Tell the telco you need analog DID trunks.

The interface is an 02RV2T.
Most likely you wiil need it set for wink start, DTMF signaling and depending on your dial plan they need to send the proper digits.

Thanx for the quick response gents. I really appreciate the input. I think what I'll do is simply order the block of 10 DIDs that Telus spoke of and be done with it. Thanx for all the specifics from Tipandring I think I might be able to "walk the walk."

Thanx again.
