Here is an idea for the intra mail to do what you wanted. Using trunk routing mailboxes set them up to route ext vm to call routing mailboxes that can have AST for day/night greetings. Then set the TO option to a virtual mailbox that resides on a key. I have NO idea if this will work OR how many call routing mailboxes you will need.
Example:
Ext 301 -> trunk routing mailbox -> call routing mailbox 003 (where you can set AST (day/night) and DAT) time out-> virtual mailbox 401.
Just a thought.

To complicated. I like the KISS method when possible, even for complicated things.

How many total extensions... particularly the ones that need this day/night greeting feature?
