We have an Elite IPK II system with an Elite Mail Voice Messaging system. The voice mail clock is currently running 1 hour and 20 minutes slow. We have access to EliteMail CTI LX using an IP of 192.168.80.200/admin/index.php through our SonicWall Global VPN client. But I cannot find anywhere in CTI LX to change the time.

We can get into the phone system using Electra Elite IPK II Web Pro on 192.168.80.198. But we cannot seem to locate the IP address for EliteMail LX, which, according to what I read in the manual, is where I need to go to set the time on the Voice Mail system. The company that installed the system, who we no longer do business with, says that they do not have the IP address for EliteMail LX, and they say they never change it from the default. Yet, when I try the default, which is supposed to be 169.254.0.1, I get nowhere.

I have (allegedly) all of the administrative passwords for the phone system

Any suggestions on how I should proceed?

Thanks,

Gene Ingraham

Time to find a new vendor. The slow clock is fixed with a patch. The time is set with 'putty' access. There is a new release that allows you to sinc the time via the internet. Only an NEC authorized dealer can give you the support needed. There are a bunch in the NJ area. Hope this helps.

It's one of the biggest design flaws of the LX mail. No way for the local admin to change time and date..

Dr. PBX is correct

You most likely are running software version 2.0.0.5

You need to be on 2.0.2.0 w/clockfix

This should be a free upgrade since it is covered by NEC warranty.

Thanks much and OK on all of the replies. I do have a contact number for a new vendor, who I can call on Monday, and I do not mind doing that, if that's the only way to fix the problem. Is that the only way to get a software upgrade?

Also, none of you addressed the problem of no IP address for EliteMail LX. Are you all saying that I can only get that from a NEC authorized dealer? Did the IP that is listed in the manual as default get changed by the old vendor and now they are telling me that they didn't change it and that they do not know what it is?

Finally, are these systems not servicable by the Owner?

Thanks much, Gene..>>

If you do not know the IP Address of your LX voicemail you can connect to it with Hyperterminal using the serial port on the front of the card. You will need to use a null modem serial cable (same cable used for co-sessions on the Elitemail DOS product).

You will have to set Hyperterminal to 38400, 8,N,1 and log into the voicemail using the same user-name and password as PUTTY.

You can then access the config menu after stopping the voice server to look up the assigned IP.

As far as servicing the system yourself, as long as you are aware that this will void your warranty, and you will have to pay for any labor/parts to reapir any damage you may cause, then you are free to do as you wish. It's your system, you are legally allowed access to all programming and passwords. Your vendor cannot keep this info from you.

If you can connect to the Elitemail with 192.168.80.200/admin, then you can connect with an ssh secure client interface such as Putty to acces the linux OS & the Elitemail LX utility menus.

Pay an authorized NEC vendor to come out & 1st check to see if you are at version 2.0.2.0 w/clock patch. 2nd, make sure the Elitemail LX does in fact have internet access. 3rd, have the NEC tech train you on how to administer the system yourself.
