Hi,

I was wondering if there is enough interest on the Sundance Forums for a spot for Teletype threads. I belong to the Greenkeys mail reflector, and that is an excellent place to meet people and get information, help and parts for Teletypes, but it is a reflector, and as such, following a thread can be difficult.

As far as I can tell, there is a paucity of spots on the web for Teletype enthusiasts other than Amateur Radio operators and their RTTY, which today is mostly computer generated and received. Though it is Baudot code (the old electromechanical TTY 5 level code), most often modern RTTY on the ameteur bands lacks the necessary 'return' code at the end of each line to cause the TTY to return the carrage for the next line. What happens is that the TTY will continue to print at the end of the line rather than start a new line. This of course is fine for computers that auto scroll, but not TTYs.

Anyway, just a thought. I have found much information, made many friends both online and in real life here, and have had help, parts and encouragement given freely to me by the many people on this site.

Thank you!

Best,

Joe

I'd think that would fit under antiques, maybe rename the category antique phone equipment.

I really don't see a need for a seporate category for TTY. Let's see what others think.

That could add some alternate, interesting reads to the forum. Altho how about Antique Telecommunications Equipment. Oh, wait Keys and sounders. Well... hmmm.
