Hi.

I have a question about the room-to-room 2-way intercom feature.

Do you need to assign a "FAUTO" button or press 14 on every call or is there a way that you can set all phones to automatically use the "FAUTO" method every time you dial an extension?

I'm considering the iDCS 100 and DCS regular systems.

Thanks.

first you dont use the fauto for intercom you just set the system phones to auto answer mode

second that does not apply to single line phones (you understand why)

third you really dont want the dcs ok when I said its old and not new anymore I meant that samsung only sells parts for it now so you can forget the warranty

the 100 is the way to go if you need the size ability not the dcs. The dcs is basically the 500 only OLD.

forth the fauto is used for vm or out bound or staton to station forwarding eg you leave home and it can forward to your cell if you use two lines or your vm if you purchase the vm or to the tv room if you are in there.

now about this fax server you really really need to contact a vendor to get you configured. Someone local or call me. my number is on my site.

Hi Wrichey.

The fax server was more hypothetical.

Its a absolutely must in my office but not in my house. I was kind of using that as an example.

I am using this house also to house backup servers, large storage servers, etc for my company.

I was kind of keeping the fax server backup in the back of my mind as a possibility but I don't think I really need to worry about that right now or use that to influence my decision.

They both seem to be very close on the feature side if you are considering iDCS 100 R1 vs DCS ?

Do you think the iDCS 100 is worth $1,000 extra over the DCS?

Honestly, I'm probably going to use the 24 button phones, setup DSS for 18 room using the auto answer function with 1 CO lines ringing on all phones in the house with maybe 2-4 analog lines.

It seem that both systems will do this the same right?

Do you think the DCS will break where the iDCS 100 will not break? Or are you concern with the available of parts of the DCS?

The iDCS 500 is an great system and the DCS seems like a inexpensive smaller version of the iDCS 500 use can use the same low density parts on both.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks.

The DCS was retired but is still a pretty good system.Station and trunk cards are still available as new even the 24 key DCS phones but thats about it.Anything else and your looking at used/refurbished.Also the feature set is better on the 500 but the DCS will do the job Except for caller id to analog sets.

like P said the dcs is fine for what it can do but some part will be used/refurb

as far as the phones the 12 button phones are not sold new and soon neither wil the 24 button phones

yes the 1000 bucks is well worth it. as far as some of the feature set like cid logs im not positive that the dcs can do the same as the 100

the parts will in a few years become hard to get unless they are refurbed samsung has to supply parts for a while just to keep the dealers happy but soon they will faze them out just like the 400 and a few other things.

no the system wont break its just not ever going to updated again so if you are happy with what you get for quite some time then by all means get the dcs

I have one cheap to sell but I dont have any 24 button phones to go with it. Also dont mistake the ds 16 24 button phone with the dcs 24 button phone they are not compatible

The 100 has come with cheap packages for as long as I can remember. It has all the features, it is current manufacture, it is cheap, it works, it uses all the digital phones samsung has made, you can do 6x24 in the base cabinet without daughterboards, the misc card for CID is cheap, you can add voip, you can add two analog ports or more with daughterboards, battery backup is just adding batteries, and if you want your shoes shined you should buy something else but putting money into a compact or dcs or 616 is just a waste of money and lacks resourses you said you wanted.

Stop thinking about it and buy one for gosh sakes. There are lots of dealers who want to sell it cheap or for cost just to keep the quarterly numbers going.

Thanks, Bunnie
