Hello, i have a shop with a comdial black cabinet and 6706 phones. i need all the phones to ring so we dont miss calls but only one does. we have 3 lines. when i switch the phone that does ring to another station it then rings out there. How do i program all these phones to ring? I only have a user guide leaflet with the phones.

Do you have a Comdial vendor in your area? This is an older system and this programming is technician accessed. On the side of the cabinet should be the type of system that it is. The 6706 phones worked with alot of different systems. The black cabinet would indicate a NO616 or something like that. I quit actively supporting the Executech series about 10 years ago. Making other phones ring isn't all that involved, but you've got to have a manual, some experience in programming this system and the will to do it.

Check to see if someone in your area still works on these. Good luck and welcome

IM TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE BUT HAVENT YET. I KOW THIS IS A VERY OLD SYSTEM AND YES IT IS A N0616. I WOULD LIKE A NEWER SYSTEM THAT WOULD HANDLE A REMOTE PHONE BUT BELIEVE THE COST WOULD BE ASTRONOMICAL FOR A VERY SMALL BUSINESS. TY

That's a tough one. You're in a metropolitan area, running a business with a phone system that can't even have a VM on it. If your cell phone was that old, you'd be carrying it in a backpack. wink

Seriously, you need to develop a relationship with a good, local telephone business. There might even be some more bad news---if you only have 6706's--whoever programs the system may have to have a different type of phone to program with---I don't know this for sure, though. It's really a problem because most of the guys who could program that system with one hand---are dead. Or like me---almost brain dead. :thumb:

Hey JWR, I still have about a dozen of those running. In fact, I can think of a 2 block area in my next town, where there are 4 of them. And I can still program most of it without the cheat-sheet. But like you, am getting a little brain-dead on some of that old stuff.

Really showing how long we have been around.

Russ, that's really quite amazing and quite a testament to the reliability and sturdiness of those old Comdial systems....and to the old Comdial techs. It's a different world today. If you have a 3 year old cell phone, it's "ancient". Everything, nowadays has to be upgraded. :toast:

You are right. I had a customer with a DSU I, and their IT guy convinced them they needed VOIP. Went about 3 months, and guess what, I was back to reconnect the phones and reprogram it back to life. All the employees were complaining about dropped calls, and crappy voice. Now they've retired the VOIP.

Upgrades ain't always what they appear are they?
