I have a ton of experience with cat6, none with 6A or 7. You are right about the size of cat6, it sure fills up the J-hooks a lot quicker. Can anyone post a picture of this beast (CAT7).

The connectors I saw for CAT7 had individual snap-in "modules" for each pair. The connector itself is much bigger than an 8 pin plug and reminded me of the old token ring connector.

We have pulled regular cat 6 cable in the past, when I say regular cat 6 it means round jacket and the pairs are not fused.

The connectors we used on the job where we had to use the media twist were paduit snap in on both patch panel and station side.

Again if any of your customers are requesting media twist, bid it higher than cat 5e for the extra labor it will take through out the job!!

I've never installed CAT6, but I've heard of Beldon DT6/RJ45 "MediaTwist" cables. Just curious.. what's the reasoning for the CAT6 MT's fused pairs ?

As the term "Media-Twist" implies, is this cabling designed for a specific application?
Can someone briefly explain?

Cat5 tends to separate when bent, Belden "data twist", and "media twist" are fused to stop this separation and keep uniform twist of the pairs.

I heard that CAT7 connectors look like RJ45 modular plugs and are backward compatible, but have 2 more conductors (grounding the shielding?) built into the back or sides of the modular plug. Germany uses a lot - Siemens has an extensive product line.

No way did the one I saw look like anything like that. I guess there are several different versions of CAT7 just like CAT6.

Edit to add:
This looks like what I saw.

Hi Hal - I am sorry - I'm not too sharp tonight. It was Siemon, NOT Siemens, and they have the Tera line of CAT7 and yesy, the connectors look like the one you pictured. I guess the one I saw was some kind of prototype?
