Does anyone know how to do a remote system reboot on any of the ESI systems, Via ESI-Access or the terminal window? I've looked but can't seem to find anything (unless it's a tech support only feature)

I know of no way to do this but it sure would be nice to be able to. There have been bugs in ESI access in the past where if you tried to do something in particular it would cause a reset. If they can do it by accident maybe they can do it on purpose!

I am going to put in an enhancement request e-mail for this, I suggest anyone else do the same. ESI resellers should know the e-mail address- if you don't, contact your Sales Rep. I don't want to post it lest they receive e-mails from the GP.

PS if you are absolutely stuck you can upload new software, which will cause a reset. If it's already running the newest, just name it one iteration higher than the copy on the system (e.g rename 1.5.13 to 1.5.14)

Bdunne, it's safer to rename the software to a lower version, that way if you already have the latest, you don't have to force an "upgrade". The system will opt for the higher one. After that yer set. it's a very laborious process for something that on almost every other system I've ever worked on was a 5 second operation remotely. I gave up asking tech support, and the reps that came by the office when they'd add it. They all either said it was under consideration or not going to happen.

Remote re-boot... easy... Call the customer and have them hard re-boot by pulling the plug from the wall outlet =)
