I am running trixbox 2.8.0.4 and have installed a Digium AEX400 with 2 Quad FXO modules. The card is installed and working fine (using the dahdi wctdm24xxp driver per the installation manual). I also run 10 Polycom Soundpoint 601s. The only issue is that when I get a busy signal on some of the outbound calls. All inbound work fine. While listening to outbound calls with a butt set (we are in a 10 digit dialing area) the card seems to dial the first 9 digits then pause before dialing the last digit. This pause is sometimes long enough to cause the call to fail. Is this normal on Digium cards?

Could it be a dialplan issue?

I don't think so, that was the first way I attacked the problem. I had it as simple as 9|. with no change. I have been reading on some other forums about an issue with echotraining (the default is 800 ms). I was going to back onsite Thurs. or Fri. and will try commenting it out. (the default is 800 ms). I was going to to also try changing kewl start to loop start.

I commented out the echotraining line in chan_dahdi.conf and it fixed the problem. this issue took some looking but apparently when you do a pstn-setup trixbox uncomments the line (which I believe was commented out by default, or atleast it was in earlier versions that I installed). I think I will experiment with a lower setting to see if that helps out the echocancellor, if not I atleast I know it works alright without it.

Of course after resolving the issue of outdialing I noticed a lot of echo on outside calls. I had installed a digium AEX800 with the hardware vpmadt032 echocacellor. When I do dahdi_genconf and dmesg I get the line "wctdm24xxp 0000:02:08.0: VPM100: Not Present" and "wctdm24xxp 0000:02:08.0: Failed to load the firmware" I read on another board that the firmware loader for the vpmadt032 is not part of the dahdi 2.3.0.1 so the loader must be downloaded from the Digium site. I followed instructions to download via rpm but still can't get it to load. Am I missing something or should I update dahdi altogether? Any advice would be appreciated.

I decided to install dahdi complete to see if I could download the vpmadt032 loader which is included in the suite. Once installed everything still worked. Dahdi version 2.5.0.2 after dahdi_genconf output in dmesg:

dahdi_vpmadt032_loader: module license 'Digium Commercial' taints kernel.
wctdm24xxp 0000:02:08.0: Booting VPMADT032
wctdm24xxp 0000:02:08.0: VPMADT032 Failed! Unable to ping the DSP (2)!
wctdm24xxp 0000:02:08.0: Found a Wildcard TDM: Wildcard AEX800 (0 BRI spans, 8 analog channels)

The card works but I still have echo. The vpmadt032 firmware is there but did not load. A little investigation I found where someone posted that this "taints kernel" message is a licensing issue. Still lookig for a way to make it work.

After a week of troubleshooting with Digium they told me that the vpmadt032 is no longer manufactored or supported. They sent me the replacement vpmoct032. I had already changed the distro I was using from trixbox to Elastix. I had to install a newer version of dahdi(was 2.3.0.1 now 2.5.0.1) so that the new echocan driver would load. I'm taking the sever out to the customer site on Wed. fingers crossed, everything worked in the shop.
