Howdy,

new to this forum so I hope I am posting it in the correct area. I would like to know what the letters ARDU mean in a circuit ID when you see:
ADSL ARDU

thanks in advance

* AR = ASYMMETRICAL DIGITAL SUBSCRIBER LINE (ADSL) Definition: Provides point-to-point asymmetrical digital subscriber line (ADSL), full
duplex, supporting digital signals of different downstream and up stream rates.

* D = Hum, I can’t for the life of me locate “D” as a valid 5th position modifier. :rolleyes: shocked

* U = ONA/unbundled. (open network architecture)

So, I read ARDU as a DSL capable point-to-point loop with no framing parameters.

Thats odd...I have seen both ARDU and AQDU used for hDSL, sDSL, and aDSL....Well, in Verizon/GTE land. The only ones I have ever seen aith AT&T were LXFP circuits.

I've had LXFP & LXRC circuit ID's with AT&T (Formerly SBC) for ADSL, SDSL & HDSL.

The “AR” service codes and “LX” (or LY) service codes are slightly different… LX (and LY) belong to a category that CLEC’s lease called UNI (unbundled network element.) It might seem like “splitting hairs” on the semantics of it but and “AR” would be used for ordering a circuit capable of carrying a xDSL signal from point A to point Z… An “LX” service code would be used to lease a xDSL capable piece of Telco network capable of carrying xDSL signal. (The “LY” service code includes equipment in the lease.)
