One of my customer just had a camera system install at a new branch. The installers ran C5 to all the camera locations. In the ceiling above the server rack did a splice to change the C5 to coax and LVT. The coax goes into the rack and the LVT goes to the wall, to a wall mount power supply. The customer was asking if there is a power supply that is rack mounted. It would prevent a MESS in the ceiling at the next site. Thanks for your help.

This LVT is a 2 conducter solid wire used for door bells or furnace thermostat. It comes in different wire counts. It stands for Low Voltage ? Hopoe that this helps.

Solid wire for CCTV power? I always use 18/2 stranded, or better yet Siamese cable with the coax and power...

It sounds like whoever installed the camera system didn't care about neatness and/or didn't provide the proper equipment.

I've never seen a rack mount power supply for cameras but that doesn't mean there aren't any on the market.

But regardless of the power supply used the installation can be neat and professional looking if it's installed correctly. There are many types of adapters for just about any camera system configuration that eliminate the need to splice anything.
ADI is a good source for camera equipment. Here is a link to their product catalog. smile

NVT makes a nice rack mount unit that you terminate the cat5 at, it puts power on the appropriate pairs, and it has baluns to convert the twister pair back to coax. It takes up 1 rack unit, but costs about $800.
