Trying to set up UM for inbound/outbound fax, I'll concentrate on outbound for this post. The problem is, I can send a fax, but only the cover page. The status of the fax in the Send Faxes folder shows "transmission error". Here's my setup...

Axxess system 5.2F2
Axxessory Talk Central Client 2.1-04
Axxessory Talk Central Server 1.001
Level 3 key good for 250 users
Vmail box is NT Workstation 4 sp6
Testing from an XP client with Outlook 2000 client

I have tried sending different tif files to different fax machines, and the result is always the same. Cover page goes through just fine, but not the tif file.

I read on this forum that there is a newer version 2.2 of Axxessory Talk, but I don't have it and I don't have an account with Inter-Tel to get it, if it will even fix my problem. I'm just the poor IT guy trying to make it work.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Oh, one more thing...in the Installation Instructions on p15 after installing Outlook Client on the Axxessory Talk PC you're supposed to run copy_profile.exe to copy your mail profile into the registry somewhere. Where do I find copy_profile.exe?

Here is a log of a failed fax transmission. Since the cover page goes through, the fax card is working, and Axxessory Talk is successful in putting the fax in the queue, it just won't send the second page, which is a tif file.

Did some research and it would seem that...
The .tif document being faxed was created by an application other than Axxessory Talk Central (BlackIce).
Intertel suggests...
Using Microsoft Word, open the .tif document experiencing the problem. Save the document in a compatible format via the following steps:
Open the .TIFF up with the Windows WANG imaging software (Double click the file on the hard drive) and then print to the UM print driver.
It's possible that neither of the above works and you will need to have the 2.203a client and 1.001a server build.
1) Select "File" "Print" from the Microsoft Word toolbar and select the "Axxessory Talk Printer" from the drop-down box, click "OK".
2) Select the "Save Current Fax To Disk" box.
3) Select the "Save To Specific Location" box and enter the path and filename of the original file you wish to convert.
4) Click on "Save Now".
The file is now in a format supported by the ATC printer settings and can be faxed without transmission errors.
I have had that problem on one site before and this was the cure. Good luck.

Thanks BaKaatz, a variation on your steps worked! Windows XP doesn't come with Windows WANG imaging anymore, but I have found out how to copy and register all of the files needed for Windows Imaging over to XP. Anyway, pasting the tif into Word and then printing to a new tif file did the trick.

It's too much to ask of my users, so I'll have to find an easier way.

Is the issue resolved in the 2.203a client with 1.001a server versions? If so, if I contact Inter-Tel, will they give them to me?

I have no issues w/ faxing. I am using the latest versions as they are available, currently 2.219 for the client and 1.001p for the server.
