Has anyone here had any luck ordering Centrex class of service from a CLEC, such as Optimum Voice? I seem not to be able to communicate my needs to the people who answer the phones at OV.

I'm pretty sure that their switch (I believe it's a DMS-100) can support Centrex, and probably they would need to buy the correct software updates, but I can't get through to anyone who knows what I'm talking about.

If it is a DMS100, it'll do Centrex...

I think you're trying to buy a Big Mac from Burger King.

I don't think any CLEC has the word "Centrex" in their vocabulary. I don't think they have an "everyone has to dial nine for an outside line" product. They might have features or products that seem like Centrex, but even the word "Centrex" is (or was) a registered name of a line service provided by (in this area)--Illinois Bell, then Ameritech and now, I guess AT&T---but CLECs???? I don't think they have a clue as to what the term and the actual product is. I haven't come across a Centrex line in 10 years.

LOL and then some... aok

Arthur, I've worked on CLEC circuits in their heyday for about 6-7 years and have *never* seen a Centrex line offered.

While I'm certain that there must be a workable solution theoretically, good luck with getting anything of such nature actually done. Seriously.

We had a CLEC a few years back that offered a work around to one of our customers for a specific application and called it "Out of System Transfer". Cost only a few bucks more a month. I was just throwing this out in case you really wanted a feature they might provide vs the centrex trunk itself.

Really, what is Centrex or Plexar? Just a bunch of features, many of which are not used and some are already available with many services. The most popular is call transfer which is not. If you have a need for a particular feature I wouldn't confuse the issue by requesting Centrex, try explaining and requesting the feature.
