I cannot get the Call Back light to turn off on an SBX 24 button phone. I have checked to be sure there is no new voicemail and have had the customer try the call back procedure several times. How can I determine the cause of this problem?

If the light will not turn on for any phones, then reset the system.

Thanks Derrick.
I re-read my post. It is somewhat confusing. The call back light will not turn off.

I had my customer power cycle the system. The system will no longer boot up. Reset power twice, all of the phones cannot connect to the system. I went to customer site. Same results for me. Removed the voicemail card, system now boots up. Defaulted the system and uploaded the database with the voicemail card installed. It works as expected now. The customer has access to programming from station 101. Customer error???

Dip switch four needs to be in the off (left) position as well. I suspect it is already which is why the system didn't boot after a power shutdown with the battery either dead or off. That's why I like the reset button.

Switch 4 was off and the battery switch was on. The KSU is also protected by a small UPS so I do not suspect the database to be corrupted by a power fluctuation. The system only restarted properly after I removed the voicemail card. I put the voicemail card back in the system and it would no longer restart. I had not changed any dipswitch settings up to this point. My next step was to shut down the system (voicemail card installed), turn off the battery switch and switch 4 to initialize the system. It then started up properly with the voicemail card installed. I reloaded the database and it has been running for 4 days without any problems.

I suspect two possible explanations. (1) the cmos battery is marginal, or (2) the customer has made mistakes while in the programming mode. They were trying to extend the amount of time before messages were automatically deleted.

What do you think?

I think that anytime someone not trained or experienced with any system has access to programming anything bad can and usually does happen.

In this case some of the timers for the system are not what they seem to look like...change the wrong one and ooops.

Just wanted to give an update. I changed the password and they have not had any trouble since then.
