I have a customer who was sold a system that is not working for their location. They are a camp site with a phone system and 5 phones in the welcome center. They also have 1 phone located 2000' away in a maintenance shed and 3 more located 500' feet further at the lodge.
They are loosing connection regularly with there IP based system.

How far can the Norstar M or T series phones be placed?
The cabling between the locations is as follows
50 pair 22 gauge direct bury from welcome center to maintenance.
50 pair 22 gauge direct bury from maintenance to lodge.

You say ip based system yet issue is with norstar sets which are digital not ip

Is it BCM system?
That and norstar require a SAP power supply on the second pair for long distances
find out what system it is

The current system is an AllWorx which the customer has had issues with for 3 years.
My thought was to go with a Norstar CICS or MICS and M or T series phones.

In that case, a Norstar phone can be placed 1000 feet from the KSU without a SAP power supply or 2500 feet with the power supply.

What type of wiring is in place for the longer runs?

The Allworx is only as good as the network infrastructure.
The cables must be Cat5x or Cat6
Anything over 295' should have Repeaters installed for the remote Switches.
And a site like that must have good Switches, Patch Panel and Patch Cords.

They have been using vdsl extenders for the long distance Ethernet connections. These are connected using 22 gauge 50 pair direct burial cable. After going over the 50 pair it connects into another vdsl then into a data switch then from the switch to the AllWorx phones. They constantly are loosing connections.

Why not offer them a deal: Install the CICS on a trial basis, leaving their existing system in place in case the CICS doesn't work well either.

I thought about that but MCK extenders and the like are a pricey trial.
Love your quote Dave.
