Hi all -

Is there any type of 24v power inserter for telephones that require more than the standard 12v to run on (such as Nortels or Panasonics)? I have a Norstar phone I would like to try to run off of my RJ11 wall jack at home, without a Nortel KSU. Is that possible?

Something like a power inserter that takes that 12v signal, boosts it to 24v and sends that signal out to the phone.

Thank you

Do you mean that you want to try to operate a digital telephone that is designed to be connected to a PBX/KSU...by plugging it directly into a standard POTS line? stop

If so, it won't work.

Hi Dexman -

Thank you. Come to think of it, if it were designed for a KSU, it will only work on one... crazy

In many cases you can go in the other direction and connect a regular telephone to a KSU/PBX, but...depending upon the telephone system itself...you might need to add special cards/modules to accomplish this. smile

its not a phone in the standard sense its a data terminal it needs to communicate with the KSU for functionality it would have no idea how to react to the voltages coming from your wall jack

For your info: ANY "System" phone, whether it's Nortel, Panasonic, XBlue, or whatever will NEVER work without a KSU to run it.
