We are trying to make a conference from IP phone on OS7030 v4.82 to OS500 over the SP-NET in local network but we get "No MGI ch available". We have MPS function enabled. Since this is IP to IP (IP phone to SP-NET) MGI should not be required. What could be the reason for this issue?

Are you trying to make a confernce call or a have a two way conversation?

If your using the "conference feature" then you will need an MGI Licence.

Secondly I'm not sure whether MPS to MGI will work?

I'm thinking that it sees the OS500 as MGI so it will try to convert the call to MGI > MGI and if you don't have any MGI's that could also be another issue.

Why don't you turn on the tutorial license and test using MGI channels.

The reason for this is because SPnet is going over the PRI. If you would be going over OAS or MGI it would be different. Therefore the call on the 7400 side must be converted to analog format to go over SPnet via PRI needing a MGI to do the conversion. MPS only is allowed when you are converting like media, such as IP to Sip or IP to IP. Going from IP to SPnet is the same as going from Digital to SIP you need MGI to make the conversion.

Furthermore, if this is a SPnet over MGI or OAS, then turn off use of MPS and your problem will be solved.

The 500 doesn't support mps (never has and never will)
Spnet supports mps.

Mps requires ip at both ends (eg ip-spnet-spnet-ip).

You will need a mgi card in the 500 and mgi licenses on the 7030.

Actually after rereading the entire situation. I think it's because he is having MPS enabled. IF there is a SPnet already going from system to system, then MGI's are in effect in both sides. Disable the use of MPS and you will be able to make this conference call.

When disabling MPS even internal call trough SPnet can't be made (which is logical since it uses MGI). Apparently MPS requires IP at both ends as you said, so in this I will probably need MGI licences at 7030 side.

The question that appears is how many MGI licences will I need if I want to make a conference with 4 participants?

If you require all 4 calls across SPNet, realistically you would need 8 - Four to access SPNet Trunk and Four to access conference. I think the 7030 only supports 6 MGI's

2 cab 7030 will give you 8 mgi.

How many participants are on the 500? If 4 then you will need 4 mgi for that
