Hello again and Merry Christmas to all :-)
My customer has [4] XTS-IPs in [4] locations, not networked together. In one location, they want to add a remote IP phone, off-premises, at an employee's residence.
Plan A is I convince them to upgrade to MBX, and we can handle it from there.
Because they watch their money closely, and are already upset that the XTS discontinued a few months after we installed [3] of them, Plan B is they want to look at doing this on the XTS.
This is a smallish, successful, family company, tight with a dollar, which is understandable -- good people that I want to take care of.
So....
Vodavi had a RSGM module (3836-01 I think?) that was supposed to be simple to deploy. Is this feasible? Does anyone have one they'd like to part with? Plus an IP70024D phone? With Power Supplies?
Also do I need the Discovery VoIP card? Will any of this work, assuming I can even find these parts?
I need static IP addresses on both ends of this, right?

You will need a LANB card for the XTS, forget using the RSGM.
Upgrading the XTS will be a lot less trouble and cost than going with an MBX. Refurbished lanb cards and either a new 8024 ip phone or a refurbed ip-7024 with power supply will work, depending on the software revision your XTS is using.
You should have a static ip on the XTS end, the other end will use DHCP.

There is one other option..installing Summits in all locations, which depends on the size of each site of course.

The Summits would also work , they're each 20-30 phones + VM, but cash outlay is an issue. So, I'm looking for the LANBs.

I found some LANB cards. I even have a 3037-12 on the shelf -- overkill, but it will work. Yes? I want to be sure -- the phone I need is IP7024-D right?

The software rev is "Ver4.00.1-2FE3 XTS BASIC" Will this support what we're trying to do?

Do I have to turn on network software? Does Vertical still do this?

You should be fine. No network code is required unless you going to be networking the systems together. If I were you to save your self some headaches I would build a hardware VPN tunnel between the remote phone and the Main office to keep the LANB off the public network. We have had a rash of them trying to be hacked and it messes the card up. Just my .02

But to answer your question yes they do still do that. I have had to replace cabinets or processor and have to call them to get a new network code when the replacement happens.

The 3027 will work. It does have a web based log-on for firmware upgrades. The VPN is not a bad idea but just remember the LANB card doesn't like to work behind NAT. The 8024 or the ip-7024 will work with the FP4 software.

Make the LANB card the last card in the rack so that when you create your ip extensions it will not shift your vm port numbers or your co ports.

Regarding the LANB being the last card, their first cabinet is maxed out, so we will be installing a 3000-00 expansion cab for the LANB also (which automatically makes the LANB last, correct?). This is turning into an expensive home-based IP phone...

You are correct Gregg it would be the last installed card but the first in the expansion cabinet. I assume you have a MPB 2 in the main cabinet?

And yes I agree a very expensive IP phone!

If you are not running max cos and you have an available slot (the slots are universal) you can install the lanb as a fractional card, in other words, just use 2 ports of the twelve.
