Hi, have a XTS ver 2.2.1 . when you put outside line on hold the outside party hears dial tone right after you put them on hold. You can pick them up, so they are not gone. After a few sec you get a recording saying your call can not completed(at&t is the carrier). Have moved the co lines to different ports and cards. No change. Help tom

Sounds like a case of crosstalk...happens only on hold?

Could be time slot failure but that should effect more than just the cos. You would get crosstalk between extensions. Maybe your MOH port is acting up.

So if understand you correctly, when you take the caller off of hold, you also hear what sounds like you have conferenced with another line? And then that 2nd line times out and you have a 3-way? The 1st call plus the intercept message? Does the howler (or similar) tone then intrude on your conversation? Will the caller also hear that intercept condition if you just leave them on hold for a while?
I'm thinking your hold button is kind of Flashing the CO every time you press it.
Perhaps you could try a shotgun approach and turn off anything that affects CO connections. I would think of things like DISA and all station conferencing. But most of all, try changing the CO Flash timer. 01 is short and ignored by the CO. 20 will hang up. This should show if the MPB is delivering a flash signal. You may also want to check the CO Loop Supervision.

The xts allows one flash button per phone, and the actual hold button can't be a flash key. Exactly how is the call being put on hold? That may sound like a stupid question but sometimes people hit keys they shouldn't hit when trying to do something simple.

the actual hold button can't be a flash key Yes Derrick. I know that but. but I've never encountered this problem so I am approaching it as if his system is developing a database or CPU problem. But starting from square one is always best. Another thought... I just reviewed button assignments on my 3015-71 and see button 41 is assigned [Hold]. What if his Hold is assigned for [Flash]?

Try the old button test and find out how they are programmed:
Lift the Handset, Press Speed, then dial 7 plus #. Dial 2 to select KEYBTN option. Press the desired flexible button or buttons to display programming for the button on the LCD. When finished replace the handset.
