My customer has a Nortel 616 feeding to a newer Viking PA2A amp. The audio out goes to a Bogen TPU-15A and on the Bogen com and 70v screws to the two horns. Viking also has co lines to modular ports for ringing. When they page it gets a hum that sometimes lasts after handset hung up. When a call rings in it hums as well, sometimes a minute or so after call is answered. Does anyone have an idea on this. Thanks Dave.

Is this something that recently happened or has it been that way since some hack installed it or changed something?

Exactly how is the Viking connected to the Bogen? What kind of wire and to which terminals on both?

What happens if you pull the CO line plugs and do a page?

What happens if you disconnect the page input and call a CO line?

it started doing it a while back they tell me and they replaced the pa2a and it was ok for a while and then started again. if i take the co lines out of the viking it wont hum on ring in. the jumper goes from the ksu to the page screws on the viking. and then jumper from the horn screws on pa2a to the bogen incoming screws. and from the bogen to the speaker cable going to the horns.

Ok. How about a page with them disconnected? Does that hum?

The Viking and the Bogen should be with each other. The output of the Viking is the 600 ohm audio out (7&8) that should be connected to the Bogen T&R with a twisted pair or preferably 2 conductor shielded cable. Shield goes to the GND screw on the Bogen.
