Hi All,

Does anyone still sell these rather antique voicemails on the SV9100??

TIA

I have worked with active voice for over 20 years. I have never installed one ever on an NEC and have yet to see where one was installed why they should have. I'm sure there are reasons mainly recording space and full email integration but seriously....no.

Thanx Corel. For some reason one of salesmen here seems to want to sell them on hotel sites claiming that the cost per mailbox is cheaper than the InMail. I suspect he is getting a license deal from NEC to try and move their backlog of these voicemails.. The techs hate them.

I installed one on an SV9100 once.
It was only due to recording space as coral tech says.

It is a horrible system with a horrible interface. Also Java

I believe the UM8000 and it's stand-alone counterpart, the UM4730 are the only voicemail systems that NEC sells that are Hotel/Motel specific.
I don't think they have anything else that will integrate with a PMS system.
And like most other systems, they are a pain to work on until you get a few under your belt.

The InMail has integrated quite well with PMS services from the late SV8100 days with hotel mailbox check in feature..

It's really a pity that AVST didn't replace the UM8000 with a modern solution.

What is everybody else using, InMail?

The Active Voice/AVST layout and menus have stayed quite similar right back from the old Repartee and Replay days, which from a tech point makes it a little easier.

Java is a pain and the cost of the UM8000 is significant. If people are not using InMail, what other product do you recommend?

I personally like the UM8000 but then again I too have been using AVST products for 20+ years.

The problem with the UM8000 is that most of the tech here these days have no idea as to how to set one up where as they do with the InMail. A lot of the older techs who remember the old Elite mails have left the industry..
