Hello,

I am playing musical chairs with some phones internally as people move desks. So, I am trying to determine the easiest process in the PCPRO software to switch these phones around and have all their settings (Ext, voicemail, etc...) follow them.

I wasn't sure what menu's I should be looking at and was worried I might lose peoples voicemail.

Thanks

If you go into the system in WebPro, there is an extension SWAP feature that lets you swap extensions and programming between ports. Since all of the features and programming including voice mail are in the PBX - the swap feature moves everything at once.

I have had situations where a half dozen or more people change offices at one time. If you figure it out on paper ahead of time - as long as all the locations are currently with phones, you can do it all with the swap feature.

If you're on-site, I think it's easiest to just move the jumpers. The only documentation to update is which Jack belongs to who.

Do you know if there are any requirements on what firmware I am using on PBX to support this?

We appear to be on 3.5.

Firmware version shouldn't matter. Especially if moving jumpers - no firmware required.

I will agree with Yoda that if you are on site, it's just as easy to make the changes at the cross-connect. Assuming of course, that the wiring is well labeled. Otherwise, you'll have to tone everything back anyway.

When the swap feature has helped me the most, is when I am doing this for a client that may be very far away. Sometimes a couple hundred miles. Much more cost effective than making a 3-4 hour drive.

Software level won't matter -

However, using the swap feature can snowball on you once you start doing the changes that way since the extension number no longer lines up with the port number. Better make sure you document your changes well. I prefer moving the jumpers.
