I am interested in setting up a simple phone system with a few analog lines and phones. It looks like a need a gateway for the analog lines. Am I correct? If so, which one is cheapest and easiest to setup?

The only lines supported by the IPEdge are SIP trunks. Any other lines need a gateway to convert to SIP trunks.

I don't now about pricing. The AudioCodes is the type I have used in the past. Toshiba has software available to Toshiba dealersthat helps to configure the gateway.

To connect to standard PSTN lines, do I want FXO or FXS ports?

FXO are for CO lines, FXS are for analog stations

We use Mediatrix gateways for FXO and FXS connections to the IPedge

I have also used Audiocodes and Netvanta which are more expensive than the Mediatrix. They all work but with different levels of difficulty to program.

Is the Mediatrix gateways relatively easy to program for the IPedge? Which model do you like?

We use Mediatrix C7 series for PSTN FXO and FXS SLT ports.
If we are connecting BRI then the 44xx series is used.
If we are connecting a PRI the the 36xx series is used.

They are not too difficult to configure through the web interface.

Have you ever used the Mediatrix 4102s with a Toshiba? We have used the Audiocodes line and those work, but in this situation the customer just wants a single cordless phone connected to their CIX100.

Yes we have used Mediatrix 4102s gateways for 1 or 2 analogue devices like fax's or cordless phones.
