I have programmed the auto attendant to answer the phone, give a greeting message and give the option to access a extension directory by name or department. The name directory is selector 3 and the dept directory is selector 4. We have extensions 10-25 here. The problem we have is that it is neccessary to dial a *8 before the extension number while in the selector 3 or 4 message menu. Before accessing the menus, while in the first greeting it is possible to access the extension directly, i.e. pressing 16 takes you directly to ext. 16.
What I want to know...is it possible to configure the system in some way that while a caller is in selection 3 or 4 they can just dial the extension directly without the *8?? It seems so odd that we would require people to dial *8 in one menu, but not during the first greeting.
Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know. Are the newer systems like this also??
And off topic a little, are there any phone systems that are PC based that can be managed by a PC?? I get so easily confused by the administration of the Partner system...

Yes the newer Messaging units have Dial By Name and are much more flexible to set up.
And yes there are systems you can admin by PC, the Partner is one of them.
