We just bought a wireless headset for our Avaya 4424D+ phone. It works great, except it doesn't pick up the ring. I called Plantronics (where we got the headset) and they said this happens a lot with this phone system and that we need to change the ring to one with a longer cadence (longer ring).

So, I looked on Avaya's website. It says to press EXT + pick up handset + #00 + *32 + ringer 1-8....but as soon as I press # the phone says incompatible and makes a busy sound.

So we called the people we use for tech support and they explained how to change it from our server. Well, we tried every ring, and it didn't change. The ring sounded exactly the same.

I know it is a problem with the ring we have selected, because the microphone for the headset pics up sounds when I hold down the volume buttons on the phone.

If anyone knows how to change the ring on my phone, preferably from the phone, not the server, please let me know. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Kathryn

SPKR

Press an SA button
*32
8 (the only other setting that sounds like a "phone", although you can try 2-7 as well, 1 is your original ring)
Enter when you find one you like
SPKR to quit

SA(System Access) is your Intercom button. You have to make sure that you press Icm. button then Spk. Then #00 otherwise you may get lines dial tone by pressing Spk. button. In that case you will have reorder tone after you press # key.

From the users guide

"To change the ringer sound:
1. Without lifting the handset, press Conf.
2. You will hear a ring. To hear another ring type, press Conf again.
3. Repeat press Conf until you hear the ring that you want. Wait until you hear a ring again and
then a tone.
The ring is now saved. This alters the tone and style of ringing used by the phone"
