This is the first time I've seen an Avaya branded explosion-proof telephone: eBay

Back in the old days, there was a page in The Sourcebook Catalog dedicated to payphones and other special purpose telephones. However, your point is well-taken. The "explosive atmosphere" telephones I've seen were either AT&T or WECO branded. The AVAYA name and logo was still a glint in someone's eye in those days. BTW, has anyone noticed that the AVAYA logo looks a bit like a "curly cord" (provided that you squint hard enough)? As an artist, I prefer to believe that this similarity is by design.
