Got a call today that an ACS R3 system was down... went on site, hooked processor up solo, plugged a phone in and nothing. Brought a second processor in after testing it at the office and it wouldn't work. Took the Backup / Restore card out that i had installed from the old system and it booted up fine. So i then went and booted up the original ACS, which now worked as long as the B/R card wasn't in it. Put the processor back in the 5 slot carrier and everything worked.
So my questions.. anyone ever seen an issue like this with a bad B/R card?
The other issue is i can't set the date... it is showing 12/15/40 or something and won't let me change it.. and it wont accept the time either... but all other programming seems to be functioning properly.
Any thoughts?

Never ran into that, but your troubleshooting seemed to narrow it down to the B/U card.
You must have power cycled a few times after all that so a reset wont do much for the time issue. Sounds like a processor on the way out R3 gettin up there

Had this problem before. ACS behaved differently. Exts 10, 11 & 12 could receive a call but wasn't able to answer it and lights for lines wouldn't lite up. replaced Processor and wanted to use the same Back up card but problem came back up. After that I realised that problem is the B & R card.

I do recall a run of BackUp/Restore cards that would not allow the system to come up, but don't know why one in the field that was working would develop the problem. The ones we saw were out-of-box failures direct from Catalyst.
I would try a new RAC card, back up the system to that, default it, and see if you can set the date and time. If so, restore, and see if it lets you back in, otherwise, default it again and start over.

I have seen the back-up/restore card kill a system, but it has always been after a lighting hit.
Replaced the B/U restore card and everything worked fine.
