We have a DSX 40 in our main office and are using Custopak service to transfer calls to our remote location. How can we transfer calls on the pbx using Custopak? Would we press transfer, then dial 9 (to get out of the pbx) , then flash and dial the phone number? Can we program a hot key on the phone to do the transfer to a phone #? Do we need to program the dsx 40 to work with Custopak (if so which programs and settings)?

It sounds like your talking about transfer disconnect over 1 line. If that is the case you flash the 1st call, that should give you dial tone, dial the number, usually you should release when you hear the other end begin to ring.

Trunks to have to be setup for tandem in the DSX.
Timers may need to be adjusted for the flash

Custopak is apparently what Verizon is now calling their old Centrex or Centranet service. The only thing you may need to adjust would be the flash timer - you don't press transfer or access another line on the phone system, you would simply press the flash key (programmable on your feature keys) which will put the first call on hold, then dial the next phone number (without dialing "9" as Verizon has by default set the system up to automatically dial 9) and then hang up to transfer the call.

I get what you said but I thought they would have to dial a 9 first.

Lets say they answered an incoming call on their DSX 40 phone and want to transfer to the remote site. Wouldn't they need to get out to the Custopak system before they flash and dial?

That's whats troubling me and I can't test it out till next week when Verizon installs their equipment.

I would go to the verizon website and look for custopak instructions so you know ahead of time how the features should work then you can see what you need to do

Yes, I did get the instructions for the Custopak service, however I did not find anything saying how it works when going to a PBX system. Usually Custopak is used instead of a PBX, but we're just using it for call transfers off site.

its going to work on the key system the same way it works on a SLT . call comes in they flash and then go from there . the only thing you need to do is provide a flash
key and instruct them how to use it

OK, great so all I have to do is set a feature key for flash.

Thanks for the help!

1 more question:
What would you set the flash timer setting to, or do I just have to try different setting and find the one that works best?

I would start with the default setting , if there are issues then you can adjust accordingly

Thanks!

I should be OK, if I have any problems I'll post next week when it's all set up.
