We have a CIX-670 with a PRI using 10 Chanels. The Service Provider is having issues with our circuit and the PRI drops off every now and then. They are dispatched to fix the issue, howerver this is not the first, nor do I expect it to be the last time this will happen.

The issue I have is we do not notice when the PRI is down until we go to make a phone call. If we have Incoming calls they just get a busy signal.

Is there a way I can make a key on a phone Blink or Lite up when the PRI is down?

What is the best solution for a backup, hunt grouped analog lines?

I'm not sure it will work, but you could try programming a line group button on your phone. Then maybe when all channels are either busy or the circuit is down it will light up. Might work, might not - I've never tried it. Give it a shot and post back with results.

Normally an Adtran ACE is used between the smart jack and the Toshiba.

This is two pair in and two pairs out even though they are RJ45 network cords.

If you have a spare 4 pair somewhere a person would be sitting, you could locate the Adtran there.

A red light is supposed to turn on for either network loss or equipment loss. That small Adtran box could sit in clear view of some person who is usually at that location.

If you have to go to this much effort you need a new provider.

The Bunnie,

Thats not a bad Idea, It would be nice if the adtran had a contact closure or relay that it could trip when in trouble, to sound an alarm or trip a light relay.

I wish I could get a new Provider. We have 25 Pair of Copper into the building which is apparently shared with our neighbor accross the street. There is only one Open pair avalable and and it tested too dirty for a T-1 loop. My CLEC is responceive to problems but its Verizon''s copper. I have tried ordering service through Verizon directly but that seems to be harder than launching the space shuttle. I have Contacted other CLEC's and they always get to the point where verizon tells them there is not enought pairs avaliable for our location, and the CLEC's will not pay to run addtional cable.

The most Frustrating thing is FIOS is both north and South of us on our street no more than a mile in each direction. But they won't bring it down to us. It would be nice to have 50/25Mbps for around $150 a month.

I am not sure is a PRI can run over FiOS but i am assuming they could if they wanted to with an Adtran box or something.

Any tips on forcing Verizon to run new cable and/or Fiber?
