Effective 1/30/2010 the XTSc is manufacturer discontinued. It would have been nice if Vertical told their dealers, or did I miss that email?
I didn't hear a word about it either. I can't say that I'm surprised. The only thing I ever hear from them is requests for sales forecasts.
I just ordered two XTSc kits today....never heard a thing. Great....
First I heard about it too. Keep going this way Vertical, soon you'll be 'Dealer-Discontinued'...
Just put another one in last week. It was a 4th site networked with VoIP. RIP.
I wasn't planning on selling anymore of them anyway. I have had six fail for one customer. The same thing happens each time. System just dies with nothing but model numbers showing up on the phones and it can't be revived.
I had bad luck with the first two I sold having bad CKIBs (CO Ports), but other than that they did OK for me. Since I've only sold about a dozen of them, my heart isn't breaking over this.
We've only got about a dozen too but they've worked well.
I have about a dozen of them as well. The ones with low traffic no problems. The ones with high pots traffic...I said six, but it has been five failures. Two offices failed twice, one of those the replacement system lasted one week. I have never found out what the problem was, but it looked like a power supply issue to me.
We who are not Gold dealers were only able to sell uniphones to small accounts because of the c but I doubt that past problems are the reason for dropping it. This will up sales of the standard KSUs but for how long? Is the end of this remaining major Vodavi connection finally upon us?
I talked to Vertical about this just a bit ago. It is an LG issue. They can't provide a certain electrical componet any longer. That's all I could find out.
I call BS on that they can't find a certain electrical component. The c is virtually the same back plane as the STSe but with expanded card slots to fit the bigger cards from the XTS. Sounds like they are feeding you a line and I bet each one of could call in and get a different answer from each person who we speak with.
just my 2 pennies worth!!!!!
"Is the end of this remaining major Vodavi connection finally upon us?"
I doubt it, Dave. LG isn't about to lose out on the huge market share that they command with the Vodavi product line in the US. It sounds to me like more of an issue of Vertical placing all of their focus on the Wave instead of supporting their core base.
While the wave is slowly growing on me I still prefer the vodavi line.
A lot has to do with what I am used to and know and a lot has to do with some very basic functions on the wave were left out for whatever reason.
I mean really why not have a true line appearance button, why do you need a button to save volume preferences on the sets.
Scott, The c is not a big seller either, but according to inside sales, it is being discontinued because it contains an electrical part that LG doesn't want to make anymore. That being said we Vodavi dealers are still third cousins once removed in the Vertical family.
LG has a new system that Vertical will start to carry. That is close to the XTS family of products.
I got an end of life email from Vertical, doesnt make it any better. We sold lots of these and we have lots networked so not having it is a huge hole for us to fill. I have heard rumors that Vertical is going to fun some promos on the XTS to make it more price competitive with the XTSc, lets hope they do,\.
Promos are fine but they are only a short term solution. Since the major R&D has surely been recovered long ago, a permanent price drop would be more in line. But that just ain't gonna happen!
The reason they dropped it was because there was a huge increase in price on some of the components which made it impossible to continue with it. This was a real blow to us, not sure how we are going to get around it, refurb cabinets? Doesnt really work for us. Rumor is that Vertical is going to introduce a successor to the XTS next year (not the Wave) so lets see. As far as the promos, who knows. This is going to make us look for another TDM in that size range. Thought about the SBX 320, have heard its gotten better but not sure thats the answer. Vertical has caused quite a problem with this one.
