Hi, my NEC Electra Pro II system had a minor meltdown recently, I had to replace the PSU and CPU boards. I'm back up and am now in the process or re-programming everything. I have a few puzzles to work out but the first one is, how can authorize a third station for programming? I know that ports 01 and 02 are authorized by default but it would be helpful to add 1 or 2 more. Can I do that, and how?

Also, I'm looking for an experienced tech who can consult by phone or email with a some other system questions, as I work my way through this. Will be glad to pay for your time, of course. If interested please email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

Follow up: I found 4-17, station to class of service feature assignment, and followed those steps, but after setting port 11 to class 00, the station on that port still won't go of line and program. Confused...

Depending on the software level you can either:

A: use the extended password to log in from any phone to program.

B. You're stuck with only access from ports 01 and 02.

As far as I know, there is not a way in software to turn on programming on additional ports.

The following is out of the IPK-II programming manual.
HOW TO ENTER PROGRAMMING MODE
To enter programming mode:
1. Go to any working display telephone.
In a newly installed system, use extension (port 1).
2. Do not lift the handset.
3. Press Speaker.
4. # * # * .
5. Dial the system password + Transfer.

I have one more question. I've got all my programming sorted out, except for one thing...

For some reason none of the mics are active on any of our phones, either outside lines or in intercom mode. I can turn the mic and intercom LED's on and off on the individual stations but no matter what I do the mics don't actually operate.

There must be some system wide enable setting but I've gone through all my programming manuals carefully and can find no mention of any such thing. All the mics worked fine with my old CPU board, before it died. Can anyone help with this one? Thanks again.

To clarify, the mic problem is the mic in the base, that is used in hands free mode.

Program 4-29 = HFU=YES

4-29 is for the Electra Professional and Electra Elite systems. Not the EPro-II. Exactly which system do you have? They program very differently.

Actually 4-29 IS from the EPRO II (Electra Professional Level II), the Electra Elite 48/192 and the Elite IPK.

The OP made reference to class of service in 4-17, sounds like he is working on an EPRO II vs an IPK II. If that is indeed the case, may want to look at upgrading. Surprised a replacement power supply and CPU was located.
