After connecting my laptop to a client's network I have had problems.

At first I couldn't connect at all to the internet at home or see my network. Finally got that resolved, but when I use IE it always tries to go to this web page: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=74005 but I get the IE cannot display the webpage warning.

I can go anywhere from there, but can't change the Home Page. I can change it in the IE options like I should, but it still goes to the above link. I've also done the regedit thing without success.

After googling various things, nothings has helped so far.

Updates & scans have been done using Eset Nod32 for AV, Spybot, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware., without correcting the issue.

This is not a HUGE deal as I can redirect after, but it is frustrating. Firefox 3.08 works AOK. Any ideas?

I've had that problem as well. I can't recall the exact cause...some combination of IE7 and a security update. You need to create registry keys that show the runonce page has been displayed. The answers are here:
