Hello,

I'm an office manager at a small non profit who has inherited the task of managing our samsung phone system. Recently we have changed core employees and need to change our primary greeting on our answering service.

I've rerecorded our daytime greeting, and when I review that greeting it is correct. However when we receive a call on our main system another greeting keeps answering, one that is not 1001, 1002, 1003, or 1004. It is a personally recorded greeting, not an automated system greeting. Even when I go into the system administrator menu and manually override the greeting this other greeting keeps playing, which I cannot determine either which greeting it is, or how/why it is set?

Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks to all who've read this.

It could very well be that how your phones ring is determining how they are being answered.I suspect that they could be ringing a group which is overflowing to voicemail/auto attendant. It's hard to say without hooking up a pc to the SVMi and seeing where the calls are going or looking at the ringing setup on the phone system.
First off it's a very simple system including 9 lines. We aren't using auto attendant that I know of, and the phones ring through to all stations and only move on to voicemail if no one answers (after 6 rings or something).

Is there some way to find out where this voice greeting is coming from that would help me determine what mode the voicemail system is in?

Again, I try to manually reset the greeting mode in the system admin menu, but still this mystery greeting is picking up.

We're a small non profit and won't be able to afford a service call right now, so it may be I who has to hook up a pc to the serial port and navigate the system. I'm fairly computer savvy although this is my first foray into phone systems.
Also, I know the number of the voicemail group that the messages in our main mailbox are going into, mailbox 500, if this helps. I've seen in other places that group 500 is a common default. Is there a relationship between that mailbox number and the group number?

David we do not offer this level of support in the open forum. Please feel free to contact any admin. or mod. for one on one assistance. There may be a modest fee for the support. It may take awhile to determine your problem without one of us being onsite. You could mess the system up more that it currently is. It may be better to get the service tech out there for a minimum of one hour and help you get started with some basic programming.

Mailbox 500 may have been deleted at some point in the past and got rebuilt during a power loss to the system. It needs to be set in installer programming not to "create" when poweris restored. There was a problem with this is some versions of software.
Thanks for the information. I've figured out that the main calls are being passed onto mailbox #500 for now and into that personal greeting/box. For our short term needs I will just modify this personal mailbox and use it for our default box.

Thank you for your help and suggestions!
