I have a samsung 50si with svmi-4 voice mail. The system keeps saying "message storage unit is full" when trying to leave msg's. I've went around and checked the mailboxes to see if the were excessive amount of msg's but that's not the case. I'm at the customer site right now and didn't bring my laptop so I can't get in through a pc. Please help me! Also tried a reset but no dice!

Prob the flash drive needs scan/repair/defrag. If you have a flash card adaptor Windows can do that for you. Takes about 20 minutes.

Always halt VM before shutting down the system.

Get yourself a USB to notebook hard drive kit for the other models like the SVMi8 HD based systems.

If you have any mailboxes that are set to auto forward messages(maybe a general mailbox) make sure the forwarding mailbox deletes after forwarding so it doesn't fill up.

cant you go to port activity and type in "message" and see where all the messages are?

Is there anything I need to know before I scan/repair/defrag the flash drive? I too thought maybe I just had a mailbox full somewhere but that's not the case. Thanks guys!

Yes.

You might want to copy the drive before and after just in case. It's always nice to have a backup.

Just remember not to check the 'format' option - you just want to repair and defragment. We had found it usually repairs two problems.

"Messages Full" and poor message quality - chunks of silence within a left message, sometimes distorted audio also.

Ok guys, as an update I went back out to the site yesterday! And to my amazement this problem has cleared up. How bizzare! Wonder if this will reoccur? Thanks for the help though.. Charles

Been a while since I worked on Samsungs, but if I remember right it's a chronic issue with some of the flash card manufacturers. So you'll probably see this again.

Are you using any of the ring groups? Do the ring groups have default mail boxes? I have found those to be full of messages.

I just read your last post, if it cleared up then you must not have run maint. after message delete. It cleared at 3AM during maint.

CMDL_GUY hit it on te head. I've run into this before with an SVMI8. You can force a maintenance job in port activity if you need to free up the space for deleted items right away.

I tried all of the above. But I'm only getting the error message when I try to do a quick memo to any MB. Works fine when I'm forwarded to a MB. Any solutions?

I see that you have to have a MB to leave another MB a message. How about a message that says "I'm sorry, this operation can not be completed by a user without a MB".
