Posted By: emt What Ports need to be forwarded for SIP and Voip - 06/29/10 07:46 AM
I have forward every port that is listed in the manual to phone system.
And still no audio on a SIP trunks. The loop start line has audio..
I forwarded all the port 1 to 65535 and it works.
What am I missing?

What ports specifically do you have forwarded and what protocol?
I opened:
OSM/CTU 5000-5003 TCP
OSM 5200 TCP
MGI 30000-30031 UDP
IP PH 6000-6100 TCP/UDP
MGI/IP 9000-9001 TCP
SAM 5090 TCP/UDP
SVMI 443 TCP/UDP
PROG TL 5090 TCP
H.323 1719 UDP
H.232 1024-4999 TCP
SIP 5060 UDP

All these port were open and no audio on the sip trunk with Samsung IP phone. Only way to make it work so far is to open all 1-65535 ports TCP/UDP

What system is this for and what software version?
If OS7200 or OS7400 do you have the MGI ports going to the MGI card IP?

Check public/private settings for MP and MGI

The ports you will need for SIP are:

UDP 5060 - MP card
UDP 30000-30031 - MGI/OAS card (or MP on OS7100 and OS7030, and OS7200s)
UDP 40000-40031 (or to 40127 if using OAS on OS7200/7400) to OAS card (or MP on OS7100, OS7030, and OS7200s)

TCP 5003 is for accessing the MC via IT Tool
TCP 5090 for IT Tool access
TCP 6100 is for SPNET
unless you using H323 don't worry about 1719 and 1720
TCP 443 is for web interface on OS7100, OS7030, and OS7200s
TCP 23 for CLI access on OS7100, OS7030 and OS7200s
Its a 7100 with MP10 SW 4.46d

Just discovered that I cannot get DTMF out of the IP phone over the SIP to access an auto attendent or VM. Works on a loop start line. This is when the phone is connected to the local LAN or with all ports open tcp and udp.

What model IP phone and what software revision?
I'm guessing you have MPS enabled (its there by default in 4.4 software), if you are using this and have a version of software on the ITP phone (or a ITP-50xxD handset) you will have this problem.

Either disable MPS (not my choice) or upgrade the handset version to the latest available (3.37 for ITP-51xx series down here) to support MPS
What DTMF type is your ITSP using? The system must match the ITSP.
UDP 40000-40031?

That is a string of UDP ports I haven't set up before and don't see them in the 7200s manual.

So, both 30000-30031 and 40000-40031 if using SIP on a 7200-S?

Thanks, that will save me headaches.
40000-40031 is used for MPS on all 4.4 based OS7000 systems (needs the OAS card in OS7200 and OS7400).

Only applies if using IP handsets and either SIP or SPNET trunks via NAT (public).
