Howdy,

So with a 7100 or 7200S with the embedded voicemail and trying to reach it with Device Manager going to 8. VMAA, what port does that use?

A lot of our IT guys won't open up port 21.

Is that the port it needs to have for that section of Device Manager?
You need 6001 to access the majority of the VM in device manager. What you will lose without using 21 is all log file access, and i believe subscriber (i could be wrong about that one).

Just have the IT company do a port translation like say external port 40404 to internal port 21 to the IP of the system, and in device manager under link setup uncheck default ports and change the ftp for that site to 40404. We do that all the time, but also restrict access to it only to known IP address's such as your office public. To hide from port scans you could go even higher most only sniff low and common numbers.

So I verified and you're right.

I asked their IT guy if he had forwarded port 6001 and he did not. It is now forwarded and I have full access to VMAA options!

I LOVE my job!!!

You may have issues with accessing the System wide parameters without port 21 forwarded
