I have a customer that has a samsung prostar dcs compact and they just moved to a smaller office. They are requesting that only 1 phone in their office ring, but they want everyone to be able to answer the call if they hear the phone ringing. I tried MMC 406 and set all incoming lines to ring at extension 201 but when I did that, no one except 201 could answer the incoming calls. I also tried MMC 302 and assigned them all to the same pickup group but that didn't work either. On a side note, the way their phones are set up now is for dial 9 access, so when you are at any phone and you press the Call 1 or Call 2 button, nothing happens, so could the dial 9 access be what is causing my problem?

You will never get a dialtone on an outside line by pressing a call key.What I would suggest is that you assign a DT key for the line(s) on each phone.That way you can have it ring to the one phone and show the ring on the other phones.Be aware that because the other phones do not ring,to answer a call they would need topress the DT key to answer.A DT key will also give them access directly to the line(s) and get them dialtone.Dialling 9 will get them access to an outside line from a trunk group or LCR if enabled

PVJ- Thanks for the quick response and the info. I will definitely try that and see how it goes. I know this might sound dumb, but what exactly are the Call keys used for? Im an NEC guy so I dont usually see call keys on the systems I usually program.

Call keys are used to make receive calls if you do not have a DT key for a specific trunk.But they won't light up on an incoming call unless your phone rings.They also are used like an intercom key .Whenever you call another extension they will light up with that call to allow you to put it on hold if necessary.To make any internal calls you have to have at least 1 Call key on the telephone.Multiple Call keys allow you to have multiple calls at the same time.If you use DT keys for outside lines they will not use a Call key but instead light up the DT key.Also please note that DT keys are assigned per line ie DT701 is a line 1 key,DT702 is a line 2 key etc.
