Greetings,
I am trying to set up voicemail to e-mail using Gmail. The error I get in the error log is Failed to start SSL/TLS encryption.
Any Thoughts? Thanks
I had that before but can't recall how I fixed it, I think it was a case of a software upgrade, also make sure you have gmail.com in the domain.
Which GMAIL server settings are you using? I believe putting gmail.com in the domain will help fix it.
OS7100 4.70
smtp.gmail.com
587
****@gmail.com
******password
gmail.com
encryption yes
SSL
In 5.6.1
I have the clients DNS server as server 1 and 8.8.8.8 for gmail as server 2.
Do I need to put their DNS server and the Google address in the management white list? I was thinking about that after I left. Thanks
Try changing your encryption to TLS rather then SSL.
Whitelist won't make any difference to Email Gateway
It comes back authentication failed.
Change the port to 465 and use SSL.
Tried that and came back with some -1 error. I finally got it to work with a non google cable company set up. If someone has a google set up that 100 percent works. I would be interested in trying it in the lab. I had 0 success with TLS SSL 587 465. Not sure where I went wrong. Thank You
Hmmm that definitely is strange. Just tried this in our 7100 here at the office and did a successful test message to my email.
Hmm what do you have in 5.6.1?
Default information. Except DNS is set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
This is a stupid question. Just checking
You also put the GMail info in System Parameters?
I did. Today I will set it up on my demo system to see what happens. The set up I used that worked to me seems bizarre but it has been working in our office for 5 years. IP address in host ID Port 25 Nothing in SMTP User ID or password then there is a domain ID and no encryption that is in Mclass. In the MBX gateway for the user is Yes a from address and then the deliver addresses. In System Parameters no info filled out. But it works.
What do you show in system? I still fail at authentication.
Thanks.
What are your dns servers set to John? Maybe you're having an issue resolving the server name. 74.125.69.108 that is the direct IP for smtp.gmail.com try that along with the other settings I have shown you. I think you're having an issue resolving the host name with your system.
Thank You All. I have the DNS servers set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
On a whim I looked at the inbox for the gmail account I was using and had a couple of e-mails about some one trying to send mail from your account from an unrecognized device if this was you please update your security settings. Once I did that the notifications came flooding in.
Thanks again.
Yes, Gmail does have a setting to allow that type of stuff. So that was your issue all along.
Yes thanks for all your patience. Sometimes it's the little stuff that gets you.
No problem! I have run into many little things that have left me thinking for days and then it hits me like a brick to the face.
