I have been having voice quality issues with the handsfree and handsets that includes echoes, cutting off, and low volume.... all with NEW INSTALLS. The 60 business phone is full of problems.... The 40 not so much. I don't know what do do anymore because ESI just keep making software updates but it just helps a little and then i have to explain to my customers why they can barely make a conference call because the quality sucks but its suppose to be a "High definition speaker" has anyone else had a bunch of issues with the new phones if so what kind of problems? because i have more problems but i dont want to go on and on and on.

Have a nice day!
We installed a 200 with a PRI and 45 sixty button phones. The problems were, in descending order:

1. Calls on trunks one way transmission
2. Calls cut off at random times
3. Severe echo intermittently
4. Conference calls sound like talking in a barrel or bathtub.

ESI remedy:

1. Reprogram all 60 button phones
2. They ran a debug and found the PRI had over 1 million framing errors in a 24 hour period. So we opened several tickets to the carrier
3. Install latest software in the KSU
4. Power cycle the KSU multiple times
5. Reprogram all 60 button phones AGAIN!
6. Default the system and reprogram it from scratch.

What finally fixed ALL the problems:

Replaced a D12 line card. Everything works perfect including extremely good duplex speakerphones.

What I learned:

1. Use your telephony skills and have a spare card or two.
2. The Techs at ESI aren't ALWAYS right. They make guesses too.
3. The first clue is usually a good indicator as to where the problem is. When I pulled all the cards except for the combo PRI/Station module, everything worked. Adding cards and testing revealed a bad module.

As a side note, if you can't get the 60 button phones to work perfectly all the time, replace a few with 48 button phones and see if the problems resolve. I don't know why,and neither does ESI, but if you have, at least one, 48 button phone in the system, the weird problems seem to go away.

mexamese: You should get yourself set up to update the ESI 60D's firmware. The tech support site has info on how to do so. Any system software updates to address issues with that set might not help unless each phone has the newest firmware.
You should also keep a log of how much time your people are spending manually updating the 60 and 40 firmware.

If you spend enough time doing ESI's dirty work, they can be "persuaded" to help you out, either monetarily or with an extra hand, if the job is large enough.

We have a new install we did 2 months ago, over 150 model 40s, and every single one of them has the bad firmware on it. ESI is flying out a tech to handle the firmware updates for us.
I too have had numerous issues with the 60d speaker phones (mic sensitivity) and noise on the 40D phones.

The most recent 40d phones with the A4 sticker on the boxes have improved.
Well it is bad to know that other ESI Dealers are all experiencing the same kind or problems as we do here.

It is good to know that it's not me or my tech's.

We have had all the same kind of problems you have mentioned plus things such as out of box failures with ESI-200, 600, 1000 Expanion Cabinets, ASC Cards going bad, PRI cards faulty, ESI 60 Handsets bad, ESI 60 IP Phones, ESI IP Cordless phones, and more.

You are right about keeping a Log of "every" time you spend on ESI's problems. They will make it partially right in some compensation.
