I installed a Rotatone module into my Western Electric 500, and it's not dialing the tones.. If I hold a number at the finger stop, it does infact beep though, like 1 or 2 for star and pound. I let go, none are actually dialed though..

Those are the instructions I followed.

That's what it came with.

What I got so far.

No wire is shorting out to another. I made sure of that before even plugging in the phone.. The rectifier thing (polarity guard) will be insulted in electrical tape when I mount it finally..

Nevermound, found the fault. Orange wire coming out of the rotatone was faulty at the spade connector. I cut it off and crimped on a new connector, all is good now.

Ok I need opinions.. I really am not good at mounting things that never intended to belong.

I even made a self-designed jumper block since my phone didn't have one (and yes, it's made out of some picture frame piece or something.. Worked great though. Improvising, just what I like to do.. Just like the double sided adhesive tape.

Looks good!

Awesome, glad to see that it looks good to you.

I made a vid last night of it in operation.

I programmed all the speeddials.. While I do like dialing it, speeddial is still nice to have for numbers i call a lot..

I like it. Everything looks clean and professional.

Thank you, means a lot. I didn't know if it was gonna look good or not, considering the space I have to work with in there.. (the dial being mainly what's taking the space..

Should I trim off the extra adhesive tape to keep it clean?

Sweet. Somebody out there still builds stuff, so maybe there is hope for this country after all!

Look for ham radio swap meets in your area (if you don't attend them already). One trip to a good swap meet and you can load up on "junk box" stuff - parts like connectors and terminal strips and even small hardware like tiny screws that you just can't get at the local superstore. Someone who is into the stuff you are doing deserves a well-stocked junk box! Just be warned, it starts as a box, then grows to a closet, then a basement, and so on... I'm afraid to even go into my "barn" (shudder).

Eh, I'm already there.

My room, all over the place, is cluttered with bins, bags, boxes of parts. I have some other bins with nothing but chips.. DACs, CPUs, RAM, voltage regulators, etc. All sorts of chips.

Bins, bags, boxes. I love it!

I'm guessing you also have Cartons, Cases and Crates. And probably Piles, Parcels and Packages. Not to mention Stacks, Skids, and - (can't think of another "S", help me out here!!!) laugh

Seriously though, you da man!! (Unless you're female, then I apologize for that.) I've heard a lot of the old-timers at the various shows and club meets around here complain that nobody builds stuff anymore, so hats off to you for proving them wrong.

Sh|tpiles? smile
Chips, I had more darn fun with 4000 CMOS series chips. Run on 5-15 volts, pretty hard to damage, and you can do EVERYTHING with them.

Don't get me started on my basement 'laboratory' and all the stuff I have down there. My dad is less than thrilled anytime I bring anything else down there smile
The tech room at the student union where I work is full of seemingly useless bits of junk, but when you have to repair a 20 year old stage light, you need random parts laying around.
