Can anyone give me some information on what's involved in replacing the batteries on the ATT Partner, Partner Plus, and Partner II processors?

How hard is it to get to the battery? How is it attached to the board? And what type of battery is needed for replacement (preferably a part#)?

1) Opening the clamshells is annoying. You must be careful to not break them when opening.
2) The batteries are soldered in.
3) You can get them from Refurb Supplies
4) Those are so old that I would not waste the time.
Well looks like we're going to try and replace some of these batteries when we refurbish the units.

Does anyone know of a supplier for these batteries? and how about a part number?
No such thing as a Partner I. Are you talking about the baby Partner (206) or the Partner Plus?

All are soldered to the board. The Partner II requires the removal of a daughter board to get at the battery. Batteries are NOT field or user replaceable.

You will need the proper desoldering/soldering equipment as well as the skills for component level PC board repair. Even so I would not attempt this kind of repair on a processor that I relied on- in other words don't pull the processor out of a working system and expect to replace the battery while it's down. Many things can go wrong and the processor may not work at all when you are done with it.

As others have said, the PII is old and not worth the trouble. Better off replacing it with an ACS.

If you are a refurbisher you should have access to these batteries. Where have you been getting your parts from?

Still trying to track down a source and part# for the batteries. I've gone through our usual sources and not having much luck so far.

We do refurbish the equipment, test it, etc. but we've been getting a few calls about getting the batteries on these Partner/Partner Plus/Partner II systems replaced.

We replace the batteries in these processors when customers refuse to upgrade to an ACS. As others said, the clamshell is annoying to get open without breaking the tabs. We brought one of the old batteries into Batteries Plus, and now they make them up for us. We do everything we can to talk the customer into an ACS...
