I'm partial to Droid , my friend has a Ipone and we both prefer my droid

I have a Samsung Galaxy nexus and while I like it battery life is extremely short

iPhone. I have it and an android. Much prefer the iPhone (android is work phone)

Thanks Brian for the comparison. I have a Blackberry now which is fine. I need a new work phone and it seems Andriod may be the way to go.

Thanks eveeryone for helping.

I have Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy S2 (work phone) and Galaxy S3 (replacement for the galaxy s, just waiting for my contract to run out so i can change carriers and get a micro sim)

I find android phones much easier to use the iphone, also much much lighter (due to plastic rather then glass case) also less likely to shatter when dropped compared to the iphone 4(s)

Thanks, I didn't know that.

My wife and I have iPhones. she had a droid and couldn't make it through a day on a full charge. The iPhone also has the advantage of the app store and Apple support which is excellent. Neither of us has had a problem with weight, breakage or dropping.

This guy came up to me and stated he just can’t decide what to get with all the choices in front of him. I just laughed and said well there are really only 2; Droid clones, which all do the same thing and iPhone. Three years ago, you had Blackberry (which they have about 1 more year and better hit it big with the next OS release, or will be going bye bye like Nortel). Palm/Web OS now essentially gone, Nokia and Symbian; pretty much gone.

I won’t do google because of the complete violation of privacy you commit to when using any droid device. I won’t do iPhone because of the lack of nice play with windows; I think they do it out of spite just to prove a point.

So at this point im banking with Window Phone. The game plan seems to be to build a unified interface with the release of Window 8, Phone 8, and a win Tablet, so no matter the device there is coherence between them all; we’ll see…

I have a Window 7 phone; and it works as advertise never crashes or need for reboots. They claim to have well over 100,000 apps in the market, but if you strip away the other languages apps; user interface apps; ringtone apps; weather apps; you have only about 43 useful apps that you may actually benefit from. Now if you’re interested in Apps the calculate your body fat to the size of your hand in direct relation to your shoes size; I say go with iPhone or Droid; you won’t miss out.

As of now, Nokia is said to now support only Window OS on their phones. And are due to release a slew of LTE phone within the year.

Wow that adds another demision to my problem. As correct as you probably are, i'm sticking with my first to choices.
Thanks

I have an HTC Incredible 2 (3G). Battery life is a bit on the short side (extended battery is available). No real problems other than a couple of needed battery pack pulls.

Leaning towards Droid. This is the weekend to get it.

<3 my Samsung Galaxy S2 Aviator from US Cellular. Works good. Battery life is about a day for me with moderate use. I carry a couple of extra batteries just in case. Big beautiful screen. Lightweight and thin. I rooted my phone so I could get rid of the junk apps that US Cellular puts on their Android phones. I haven't updated to IceCreamSandwich yet though (not officially available, but I could get it now since I rooted the phone).

hawk82, what is 'rooting the phone'?

Essentially, you install a modified software, which will allow for more control over the phones capabilities, than the original software which was approved/releases by the carrier.

While I enjoy rooting my phone to add more functionality, battery life and speed, also be aware that rooting does void the manufacturer's warranty.

Well I have my new Droid, its amazing. I'd call you guys but i haven't figured out how to make a call yet.
Posted By: hawk82 Re: Time to upgrade - 09/12/12 12:39 PM
All I did was root my phone, not install a custom ROM. And I can easily remove the root if needed by reinstalling the OS. My reason to root was to remove the junk apps that came from the carrier (tone room deluxe, amazon apps, etc). I still have the stock ROM on it since it does the job.

hitechcomm, that 'DROID' fun to play and other apps like solitaire are more interesting than talking to the spouse? smile

I like my phone, but I didn't enjoy the stock apps, the theme, and the fact that Samsung JUST released a Gingerbread update. I've loaded custom ROMs to my phone, but just like you said I keep the stock version handy in case I have an issue. Wish all droids came rooted just to save the extra 2 minutes it takes to do so to get rid of those BS apps.

I have iPhone 4 and I am enjoying it! Hmm.. iPhone is fast in releasing new iPhone units. Every time a new one comes out, I feel like I wanted to buy it.
Posted By: hitechcomm Re: Time to upgrade - 09/28/12 12:38 PM
In my very limited experience with my new Droid, it out does iphone according to friends who use iphone. For me i'm still trying to make a phone call.
Posted By: CMM Re: Time to upgrade - 09/28/12 12:51 PM
Well if it's a Samsung there's a good chance it's the same green phone icon that the iPhone uses and have been sued on for patent infringement on :P

I came from an iPhone 3G to my Samsung Infuse and I couldn't believe the difference. Now when I look back on what I actually gained from the switch it wasn't much. A bigger screen and faster processor were the big highlights, but the limitations that AT&T puts on the stock versions of the phone are rediculous; practically forcing you to root the phone to add some more functionality.

I'm half way through my 2 year contract and could upgrade again for 50% of the phone cost and re-up for another two years, although I have better things to spend $300 on. I was waiting for the iPhone 5 release to see if Apple would catch up to the curve on the camera, processor and capabilities and I think they did. Of course give it 3 months and droids will leap ahead again, as is the nature with these phones.

I'll give it another 6 months-year before upgrading again, and I'll probably go back to an iPhone, but I'm going to let them fix the bugs in the iOS first (and the lackluster map app).
