This phone had a password for the voicemail is there anyway to override the password and put my own info in it?
Posted By: jeffgoza Re: Mitel Superset 4025 - 11/01/07 04:30 PM
Your system administrator should be able to change the password on your phone which then in turn would allow you to set your own password, change the message, etc.

IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO AS A USER, WITHOUT CALLING THE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR?
Posted By: johnp Re: Mitel Superset 4025 - 11/01/07 09:27 PM
Besides yelling at us, there is little you can do.

You haven't told us what kind of voicemail your using.

So, there you have all the info your going to get.

Too funny JohnP

Oh, I'm sorry about that, it was late when I wrote that and I forgot writing in capital letters meant yelling. As far as the voicemail what do you mean what kind? It's the one on the phone itself.

Again, I'm sorry for yelling i didn't realize I was doing it Johnp.

There are different manufacturers and models of voice mails that work with the Mitel system. Each make has a different method of operation. Without that info we are shooting in the dark.

What model Mitel is it? Light, EL/ML, 200 ICP? Is there a stand alone PC near the phone system that would have something on the screen or on the cabinet that you could tell us? If and EL/ML is there a card in one of the cabinets that syas "Express Messenger" on it?

Like RBF says we are in the dark and need the light of information to help you.

There is no voice mail "IN" the phone. Voice mail is a seperate unit attachted to the main phone system, therefore you need someone to reset the mailbox/password for you.

Okay. Basics here. The phone doesn't have a "voicemail" built in. It seems like it, because that's how it's set up to operate. But the voicemail and all the messages live on a PC somewhere. This might be a separate computer, connected to the phone system, or it might be an "in-skin" voicemail -- a PC built on a card -- inside the Phone System box.

Without knowing more about that computer, no one will be able to help you. The phone is a 4025 set. Okay, that set can be used with a Mitel SX-200 or a Mitel SX-2000, or a Mitel 3300. So we would also need to know what kind of phone system the Mitel Superset 4025 is attached to.

Now, having said that, I'll cut to the chase: You need to call your system administrator. The reason is that the system will be password protected.

Now, it's possible that someone might be able to teach you to hack the password, but no one here is likely to do that, because that's just a dangerous thing to tell people. You might be a criminal hacker from Estonia, for all we know.

So cut to the chase, and call the Admin.

Hey telephoneguy had you READ my last reply you would have seen that I wrote: "I understand. Thanks for everyone's help!"

Okay, Basics here. There was no need for all of your wasted words here. I already spoke to Admin. So next time READ the posts, you may not have to waste your time and mine.

Now, Now. Just remember what Thumper's Mother said in Bambi - "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

I am speachless, the only word that comes to mind is "gracious"
Posted By: Dane Re: Mitel Superset 4025 - 11/09/07 02:00 PM
You know - over the years I have asked a lot of questions that those with the knowledge would probably consider dumb (I probably still do ask those kind of questions). For the most people have been very understanding and shared their knowledge and because of that I was able to learn. A lot of that happened before I truly got into installs and such - I just wanted to know. Anyway - here is my attitude about this kind of stuff.

If it looks like someone is in over their head or trying to "get by" without calling a service tech for something that requires one then I abjure from offering advice and advise them to get a tech. Otherwise I try to help. I've noticed most people here seem to have the same attitude.

To be honest I kind of admire TT's initiative in trying to find someone to help - especially considering that the system administrator may have set this as a low priority and (as we all know) many times system administrators and "IT" people at companies aren't that great themselves at what needs to be done.

Just wanted everytone to know.....The password on my voicemail has been taken care of. I appreciate all the help.

This subject is closed. Thank you!

Gee... well, I guess the subject might be closed but the thread isn't until everyone loses interest. Considering the gracious way TT took a little ribbing, it might go on for a bit further than expected...

Yes, now that she (?) has apparently gone, how many of you lecherous guys wondered why she had the nickname "Tall Tori". Must admit, I envisioned a tall willowy young lady, young enough to be my daughter. And before anybody descibes me as a 'dirty 'ol man', the only difference between me and you younger guys is.......... AGE! smile John c. (Not Garand)

Well, I was glad to see that some of the other Tech's saw how the Telephoneguy was being a little hard on me. Afterall, I asked in all honesty, granted he didn't know me but to accuse me of being...what did he say "a criminal hacker from Estoria" was a bit harsh!
Posted By: Dane Re: Mitel Superset 4025 - 11/14/07 08:53 AM
Well, it might have been better if he had said "from Lithuania". Just kidding. Anyway - sometimes our humor runs away with us.

So as to not make the same mistake Tall Tori did... my phone is a Mitel superset 4025. The administrator has died, and no documentation exists regarding his personal voicemail password. I would like to change it to a generic voicemail until we hire a replacement network administrator. What do I do?

Well it must be Friday.
I think the economy has taken it's toll on all of us.
In the past few weeks I have noticed an edgier tone to some posts. Many times well deserved.
It has been my experience that almost all participants here are cordial, helpful and polite.
It is an oasis in a technical desert.
I don't think end users fully understand the time it takes to help someone who does not have a technical background.
I believe the true value of this forum is the tech to tech exchanges that take place. This is a tight knit community dedicated to the betterment of the industry. Hopefully the folks who post here won't get frustrated and stop caring.
Well, I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.

Okay, for the record, I didn't call Tall Tori a hacker from Estonia. I just pointed out that we have no way of knowing.

YooperNet, well, if the admin's dead and no one knows the admin password, someone's gonna need to do some hacking. Best bet is, call your dealer and try to get them to reset it, or to have Mitel reset it.

Or, you can go sit at the old admin's desk, look on the side of his filing cabinet, the bottom of his keyboard, and all the other places where a fellow might write down a four-digit number.

To help you beyond that -- and this is where Tori got a bit upset, apparently -- we've got to know what kind of box the 4025 connects to, and where the voicemail lives.

For example, your 4025 might follow the telephone wires to a closet where there's a thing that looks like a microwave oven. Or something like a black, rack-mounted pizza box. Or, etc. ... and that's what we need to know.

Thanks for the help gang. Sincerely. I didn't know where to turn during this turmoil. So thanks for pointing me in the right direction. You ARE doing an amazing job.

I especially appreciate your patience for those who know nothing of what they speak... AND the laughs I had reading through the posts. Please don't lose your sense of humor.

Keep it up!
