Even the local telephone book is suspect. we moved over 3 years ago and had to switch number ecause we moved to a different town. I am still listed under the old number, even thou it is out of service. Of course I also switch providers and the old number was AT&T and the new number was TDS.
I use the fonefiner.net site quite a bit and find it usefull. it is not always correct, but it gives me a place to start.
